It seems that the lower viscosity of serums helps them be better absorbed than creams, and get their active ingredients penetrating furthere into the skin layers. Serums go beyond, but don't replace creams - apparently you need both!
A quote from a skin expert "Looking after your skin is like working out: it's a whole lifestyle".
Keeping Your Skin Firm
· Use sun screener. You probably know that 15 daily minutes in a sun, gives your skin the ability to produce adequate amounts of vitamin D, but what about a longer periods? Sun can dry skin cells and do quite a lot of damage to collagen, the protein that is essential for the supporting structure of the skin. Sun screen can help prevent this from happening.
· Moisturize your skin every day. Sun, wind, cold, harsh soaps, air conditioning, or central heating – these are only several of the many factors that can cause skin to lose its moisture. Apply special cream or oil right after bathing. Pay additional attention to your hands and face; since they are most exposed to environmental damage all through the year.
· Exercise regularly. It makes your shape look better and gives you energy. Furthermore it keeps your skin elastic. Regular exercising helps your skin to take up more necessary oxygen. When aging this skin ability can be strongly reduced.
It's not just skin that suffers when it's chilly, lips also need looking after to ensure they stay super-smooth. To de-flake dry lips, massage with a generous amount of petroleum jelly. Allow to sink in for a couple of minutes, then gently rub lips with a warm, damp facecloth.
As the jelly is removed, flakes of skin will come with it. Then apply a good lip balm morning and night, and switch to a nourishing lip colour to prevent that unattractive parched look during the day.
